A, E.
The first correctly avoids misusing an ellipsis for circuits, and the second maintains clear past perfect parallel construction.

I choose A for the correct ellipsis. E is not ok because "their" is ambiguous.

B for me...
for two reasons, one power of chips has increase and so has the power of the devices has increases
(2) reason I think we need has not have...
the power has increased...not power have increased...

B, E
B for me on the first one.
'have become' and 'are' don't match. Power is singular and needs to go with 'has'.
E on the second one.
b/w A and E, A splits up the sentence and makes it sound awkward. B reads smooth.

Let's see.
For the first question. Leave out D and E since "their" is confusing. C is worng because there is no agreement of tense verb. Now, between A and B it is obvious that B is the correct answer. A says that Electronic devices have vastly increased, which doesn't make any sense. B correclty states that power has vastly increased.
E is wrong. The same for D. And the same for C. They don't make much sense. Now B can be eliminated because one can not know what "respected" modifies to. A seems to be the correct answer.
I answered B and B. The second question is quite difficult.

Shamed with my wrong answers ...but let's take a look at this SC again:
" that had been ....." seems to modify " a return", instead of "form of ownership" , thus eliminate E.
D is wrong by using "a" coz it distorts the original purpose of the noun clause " what had been ....." to elaborate that " communal form of ownership" is, in fact, the form used by pre-Columbians.
C is clearly awkward by the lack of a noun clause to modify " communal ownership of land".
Looking more carefully at B, we realize that it has same error to C.
Ok, so this time, A is correct.

your analysis is perfect.... but probably on the exam day I would have gone for B.....
