go with B

B is much more succinct than A

I know Jerry, I picked B too because its structure is very similar to a sentence correction that was discussed several weeks ago and U2lover had a massive post on it and the reasoning got stuck in my head. And B seems like the correct one But unfortunately the answer is not B :?

Hi,
I would go for E.

My reasoning is that Joan Philkill attended those meetings and reviewed papers as Chair not as a former chair. She was in the planning board for 18 consecutive years and a board member for 28 years as a chair not as a former chair.

Hence my choice is E.

Please correct if I am wrong..

Amit

if she was a board member for 28 years, it is more probable that she was a chair for 18 years..former chair again is a board member..

E for me too (i realize you already posted the answer...)

Former is redundant as that is implicit in the meaning of the sentence and As the x and a y sounds right. It is parallel because each noun takes a modifier of the and a, which is consistent to me. Or As a/the/an x and a/the/an y
