Even though more money was removed out of stock funds in July as in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as an industry trade group had previously estimated.

A. as in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as
B. as had been in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as what
C. than there was in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as that which
D. than in any month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as
E. than in any other month since October 1987, sales of fund shares in July were not as low as what

IMO D. In E i feel "what" is redundant

Its clearly between D & E.

Do we clearly need the word other? I dont see a difference without the word "other". It is still a month to month comparison.

Comparsion in E is better sales of fund shares is compared to "what" has ITG had estimated.

Those who think E is the answer, can you please explain why we need "other"?

Even my choice is E.

When we compare objects of same class (months in this case), to exclude the main object, which we were comparing, from the rest, the word 'other' should be used. It is not required in cases where the object is compared to itself.

If we don't have a what, we actually end up comparing sales of fund shares to the industry trade group.

D Vs E => :roll:
Yezzz => any other is reqd here since july is compared with other months and also we cant compare sales with "an industry trade group had previously estimated" hence what is reqd very much
