( As well as heat and light, the Sun is the source of a continous stream) of atomic particles known as the wind.
stem: What does "as well as" mean here?

1) the same
2) besides heat and light, also the Sun is the source of a continous stream

3) Besides heat and light, the Sun is also the source of a continous streaming
4) The Sun is the source not only of heat and light, but also of a continous stream.

5) nonsense.

1) I guess you can't use the introductory modifier here.
They throw you off here. C) is easier to pick off as wrong if they used "also a " source of a stream of atomic particles. Then C) is wrong because heat and light cannot refer to a source for solar wind.

1, 2 and 3 are wrong because of wrong modifiers. They sound as if Sun, heat and light are the source of a continous stream :!:

4 it is. Was inclined towards 3, but there is a modifier problem there. 4 corrects that.

A & B --> awkward phrasing, out. Also, A and B both suggest heat and light can also produce a stream of atomic particles
C --> Suggest heat and light can also produce a stream of atomic particles
E --> nonscence

D is the best choice

"D".

Can someone explain why "C" would have been wrong if "streaming" is replaced by "stream"?

In other words, is this a correct sentence? "Besides heat and light, the Sun is also the source of a continous stream of atomic particles known as the wind."
