Hi,

Like is used to compare only nouns. (i.e. use like to say two things are similar, and let the clause that follows tell how they are similar)
The earth, like other planets, spins on an axis.
Like other planets, the earth spins on an axis.

As is used to compare clauses. (i.e. use as if two actions are similar)
A globe spins around an axis, as does the Earth itself.

Hence the ans is E.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Sony

Step 1: "As with those of humans"

What is "those" referring to? Sounds a little weird.

Step 2: Scan through the left side of each answer choice. You know you're comparing human DNA with grape plants DNA and I recognize the word "like" - recall that "like" is used for comparisons.

Aha! We are doing a comparison and I see the word "like" in the answer choice so my attention goes to (D) and (E).

Step 3. (D) suggests a comparison with the actual humans - that's not what we want.
(E) compares "human DNA" - that's what we want.

Read it through to see if it makes sense and yes, (E) makes sense so mark (E) as your final answer and move on.
