Great thread!

Dear Marcie,
What is the best round to re-apply? Should I apply in 1st round to show my dedication to school or apply in January to extend my "reapplication history" and show improvements in my profile?
Thank you in advance.

highwyre237-That's really nice of you...! Appreciate it.

These were my intended questions for the Adcom, I'm just pasting it here (please customize some statements as per yours :) )

Quote:
I would like to apply this year to Cornell and as an aspiring Cornell applicant, it would be really helpful if you kindly let me know the followings related to my career goals/ Scholarships/ Open interview facility:

My Short term post-MBA career goal is RE development/project management job in the field of US residential/commercial RE market and Long term goal is Entrepreneurship in RE development in India in expanding existing family business. In this context I've the following questions:
1.Could you please provide me some detail information on the top tier Real Estate companies (i.e. name of the companies, percentage of students recruited by them et al.) in US, recruiting from Cornell through on-campus recruiting process...?
2.What is the average package for these firms for fresh Cornell MBA grads in US?
3.How do you, as an AdCom member, perceive the growth prospects for Cornell MBAs with these firms 3-5 years down the line?
4. I would also appreciate your suggestions on how I can manage to get an internship (if I get into Cornell) to make the full time job offer smoother under tough economic scenario as RE Market is heavily related to the economic condition I think.

In the context of Scholarships:
1.What are the Scholarships/financial aid options available for International applicants (it would be great if you can detail it especially in the context of Indian/IT/Male) ?
2.Are all the Scholarships need based or merit based or both ?

In the context of Open interview:
Does Cornell provide the open interview facility and/or Initial profile feedback on the candidacy of the applicant for the current session? If yes, it would be of great help if you kindly let me know how to avail of the same and when we can expect to see this year's essay topics out?

Lots of it...eh?

Hey highwyre237,
Any update on this...?

I'm awaiting your feedback...

Hey sorry, I rarely check this thread, I guess it fell of my radar. Lets see.

I really do not have an answer for the majority of your questions, but I'll try to point you in the right direction.

You may find this thread interesting https://gmatclub.com/forum/top-5-b-schools-for-real-estate-48583.html

No I really have no insight into which real estate companies hire Johnson students, but here is a list of companies hiring from Cornell's top real estate program
https://realestate.cornell.edu/index.php ... lacement1/

Many of these companies also hire Johnson kids, but it's tough for me to deduce how many will be focusing on real estate. You would find better info through career services (cmc@johnson.cornell.edu).

Also, feel free to contact the Associate Real Estate Council (AREC) at arecpresidents@gmail.com for any further real estate questions.

In the context of Scholarships:

I only know of merit base scholarships at Johnson, but I may be wrong. I would reach out to adcom directly for this information.

In the context of Open interview:

All interviews are by invite only, or at an invitation only event (diversity conference, leadership conference, etc.) Although Johnson does not release profile reviews that I know of, there are many resources throughout this site willing to review you candidacy.

Sorry for the delay, and that I could not be of more help. Good luck in this process!

Re: Ask Cornell (Johnson) Admissions [#permalink]
Any info on how to set up a campus visit & sit in on a class?

I called the admissions office last week and they said visits begin Sept 5, once classes are in session, and that we'd be able to schedule them on the website "shortly." Far as I can see there has been no action on the website since then. I'd really like to go visit well before the R1 deadline, so I can incorporate what I see into my essays, and because I've seen an admissions rep from Johnson on panel discussions at two different MBA Tour events in the past couple months, and in both cases she underscored how beneficial they consider it to be for applicants to come out to Ithaca before applying.

****

UPDATE: I called again, and was told that the Attend an Admissions event page on their website will have the sit-inable classes once they get the schedule, which will still be a week or so. I was assured though that if I just go ahead and schedule a trip to Ithaca any Monday through Thursday after Sept 5, they will have ample options for classes. My plan now is to simply book a ticket for whenever is best for me in mid-Sept, show up on campus, and sit in on whatever class is convenient. The way I see it, the classes will all be core curriculum anyway, and if I end up at Johnson I'll be taking that very same class a year from now no matter what.

Hello Marcie,

Could you please provide some info about the Number of Applicants in R1,R2 and R3 last year and what % of the applicants (Round-wise) got selected...I just want to know the split as i will be applying for R2 and hence would like to know if applying in R1 has any advantage over doing so in the other rounds :)

Thank you,
LC

Hello Marcie,

1more question. How do you decide where to hold Admission Information sessions. For example, how do you decide which places in India get such opportunity? is it based on the Number of applicants coming from that state or based on strategic location, etc?

Thank you,
LC

Hello Marcie and other readers,

This is a great initiatve and its great that GMAT Club & Cornell have arranged this. Kudos!

I am relatively young (23 years) with just a year & half of work-ex after my engineering graduation. I have great work-ex with amazing experiences since I worked in my family business and have had an amazing exposure.
Since I want to learn more before I progress with business ventures, its the right time for me to do an MBA.
I am worried that my little work experience is weighing my application down esp for the Top Universities (which are my target).

Please advise.

Hi,

I am very keen to do a Cornell University 1 year MBA, from your website I gather that the batch size is around 50.

Are there any plans to increase the Batch size.

Also what are the placements like of 1 year MBA / what % is through Career services.

Is there a possible profile evaluation process for the 1 Year MBA.

We want you to submit your application when you feet it’s complete. Applying to business school takes a lot of self reflection and self direction. Our admissions committee reviews applications from a holistic point of view. On average our yield rate for round one is sixty percent.

We look forward to reading your application.

Good luck,
Marcie

Re: Ask Cornell (Johnson) Admissions [#permalink]
Dear Marcie,

Thanks for the revert, I would miss R1 applications as I am appearing for GMAT only post your R1 deadline.

Would be applying for your R2 - 30th November deadline.

I have a total of over 8 years of work experience - Is that acceptable for your 1 year program or is it beyond the average.

Also I have already done a prior MBA course - Will that be an issue or a Major Red flag.
