Ask for advice on choosing schools [#permalink] New post 21 Jun 2005, 00:21
Dear Linda,

Below are my general background, will you pls give me some advice on my application school list?

GMAT: 750; TOEFL: 650; GPA: 3.5
Work experience: 4 years in Big 4 in China
MBA goals: Consulting of financial service
Undergraduate school: Top 3 institution in China

1> would you pls give me a list of schools that suit my background? (top 20)
2> which schools are more likely to provide financial aid to international students?
3> In what aspects should I emphasize more to make me outstanding from applicants with similar background?

Thanks a lot!

To answer your question

1) Wharton, Chicago, Kellogg, Columbia, NYU, Darden, Tuck
2) I am not expert in financial aid issues, but but I think Darden and Tuck both have financial aid for int'l students that does not require cosigners. I am not sure about the others.
3) In general, the details of your life will distinguish you from others. And your post above naturally provides your background in very broad terms so I can't really answer your questions without knowing much more about you. Our ebooks, The Consultant's Guide to MBA Admissions and The Finance Professional's Guide to MBA Admissions Success both discuss differentiating yourself in a common applicant sub-group.

You may also want to read a few of the articles at "MBA Application Advice."

Good luck!
