Assume I would have four goats, two male and two female, fenced in a circular 154 m² area around a graceful tiny cherry tree with circumference of 44 cm. Neither the two female goats nor the two male goats can graze in harmony with each other, that’s why I tie each of them with a line of length L (the same length for each goat) at the fence. How long can the respective line L of a goat be in order to ensure that the goat cannot reach the graceful tree, but has a maximum area to graze on?

(The head and neck together of each goat is 25 cm long )

This one is too strange to be created by some proffessional staff...hope it's not formulated too unclear.

However it isn't that complicated, just try and you'll see that it is fairly straightforward.

My expln:
pi*r^2 = 154
r = sqrt(154 / pi)

2*pi*r = 44
r = 22/pi

Length of head and neck = 25.

So L = sqrt(154 / pi) - 22/pi - 25

Or do we have to consider whether with this L goats can reach each other or not because they care not in harmony???

Yep, it's 668 cm
