At 660, where do I have a fair chance [#permalink] New post 20 Sep 2004, 10:35
Brief Profile : Indian IT Male with 8 yrs exp in IT Consulting (ERP Pkg Implementations), Age : 30, GMAT : 660(Q48,V32), ExtraCurriculars : Held positions with Student Unions during UnderGrad and involved big time with School Events, Charity Work : Volunteer for an Organization working on Literacy projects for Poor in India.

Goals: To transition to Business Consluting and then work with the Boston Consultings and Deloittes of the world before starting my own little Consulting Firm.

I am assuming that I dont need a 2 Yr full time for reasons including my age, cost etc(have a descent job as of now and my current and prev exp is all relevent for my future goals). Wish to do a fast track 1 Yr Mba focussed on General Management, Entrepreneurship, Leadership. Please suggest the schools and my chances of getting into them ?

Thanks

Hi,

There are two ultraelites with one year programs that come to mind: Northwestern and Columbia. It is difficult to determine you admissions chance based on the information cited in your message, but your GMAT is near the far left tail of the distribution.

One elite with a one year program is Cornell. It has some placements with Deliotte Consulting.

Emory, a transelite school, has a one year MBA. It also has some placements with Deloitte Consulting. It is difficult to determine you admissions chance based on the information cited in your message, but your GMAT is close to the mean.

Notre Dame, a near elite school, also has a one year MBA. As above, your GMAT is close to the mean.

Purdue/Krannert's MSIA program is essentially an 11 month MBA with an unusual moniker. The GMAT cited is also close to the mean.

There are a number of other well regared schools with one year programs including Case Western, Pittsburgh, Univ of Florida, and Univ of Georgia.

Another good option in North America is Queen's MBAST program.

And, of course, there are several international one year MBA programs.

Hjort has given you a fairly exhaustive list. I suspect that Kellogg and Columbia are unlikley admits for you. You are more competitive at Cornell and the other schools on your list. You may also want to consider Insead.

Good luck!
