1. At a certain company each employee has a salary grade s that is at least 1 and a t most 5. Each employee receives an hourly wage p, in dollars, determined by the formula p=9.50 + 0.25(s-1). An employee with grade of 5 receives how many more dollars per hour than an employee with the grade of 1?

its simple just substitute the value of S for grade 5 and 1

P(5) = 9.50 + 0.25(5-1)= 10.5
P (1) = 9.50 + 0.25(1-1) =9.5

P(5) - P(1) = 10.5-9.5 =1 ans B.

Seems like 1 to me as well. Any explaination other than given by Batliwala?

It looks like a simple subsitution problem.
