. At a certain diner, a hamburger and coleslaw cost $3.59, and a hamburger and french fries cost $4.40. If french fries cost twice as much as coleslaw, how much do french fries cost?
(A) $0.30
B) .45
C) .60
D) .75
E).90

h=hamburger
c=coleslaw
f=french fries

h+f=4.40
h+c=3.59
But we know that f=2c
Thus, h+2c=4.4

by combining both equations:

h+2c=4.40
-h-c=-3.59
c=.81
f=1.62
Am i doing anything wrong here? 1.62 is not in the answer choices...
