Day workers(DW) :5
eache DW loads N boxes then Total for DW=5*N
Night workers(NW):4
each loads 3N /4 then Total boxes for NW=4*(3N /4)=3N

So 5N/8N=5/8

U don't need to assume anything. I used this method just to make problem easier. LOOK:

Day workers(DW) :5a
eache DW loads N boxes then Total for DW=5a*N
Night workers(NW):4a
each loads 3N /4 then Total boxes for NW=4a*(3N /4)=3aN

So 5aN/8aN=5/8 . See it doesn't affect on solution.
