100% (02:16) correct 0% (00:00) wrong based on 1 sessions
At Rocktown College, the 400 students taking Psychology 101 received an average score of 76 on the final exam, and the scores had a normal distribution. The bottom 16 percent of scorers will receive a failing grade. What is the score at or below which students fail the course?

(1) 8 students receive a score of 96 or higher.
(2) The standard deviation for the final exam was 10 points.

Ignore this question:
1. It's flawed;
2. The 68.2-95.4-99.7 rule of normal distribution you are supposed to use to solve this question is not tested on the GMAT.

Since the question is flawed and tests the concept which is out of the scope of the GMAT then yes, you won't see such a question on the test at all.
