I pick A - I believe "increase in wages" is correct, so I eliminated B and C. D and E seem awkward to me. Therefore, A

A here as well but I'm not sure...The sentence just doesn't sound right with any of the choices. A is the least messed up.

I must be a little fuddled today, but I'll go ahead and pick B. Somehow, "as a result of" in A seems wrong to me!
