After having an invitation from - is correct.
I think A is the best choice. I have seen such usages.

I have seen the phrase "at somebody's invitation" used so I guess A is the answer.

B. is wrong because he didn't settle in Africa at the exact moment he received the invitation. He probably took some time to think about it? It changes the meaning too much. Also, weird pronoun reference.
C. is wrong because it turns the rest of the sentence into a modifier
D. is wrong because it turns the rest of the sentence into a modifer too
E. is wrong because it's either idiomatically incorrect, changes the meaning of the sentence, or messes up the time (as in, he only moved to Africa AFTER HAVING the invitation, which implies that he no longer had the invitation at the time he moved...)
That leaves only choice A.

thanks A is 100% correct. Correct idiom "at the invitation of....."For example: At the invitation of Prime Minister V. Putin, President Barack Obama had the official trip to Russia. Hope it helps.
