Hi Everyone,

This is my 1st post in GMAT club so please bear me if I miss something in doing so..

I am planning to get a letter of recommendation (LOR) from my supervisor who is a manager.

Now, the questions are:

1. In which format I should take? I mean physical or softcopy? Our company doesn't allow letter heads to be used for this type of things. So ...?

2. If I take through his official email-ID, how will Adcom come to know that he is my supervisor ?(I can even ask my friend to recommend right...?)

Hello there!
The first thing you need to do is to ascertain whether it is indeed a 'recommendation letter' that your target B-school requires. Most B-schools these days do not ask for a letter. Instead, you are required to submit the name, designation, and official contact details of your recommender to the school.
An email with a link to a web form will be sent to this ID, and your recommender will have to fill out this form. This recommendation form wll typically include:
1. A list of traits on which he/she must rate you. For instance, rating between 1 and 4 on qualities such as 'Leadership', 'Communication' and so on.
2. A few short answer questions on areas of improvement, strengths, demonstration of leadership and so on.

So register yourself on your target schools' admission portal and check out what it is the school expects.

I don't think you should even be asking that second question, by the way.
B-schools don't 'verify' details provided in each and every application. But if you do make it to the school, remember that they can do a background check. So ethical qualms aside, it is never a good idea to try such things.
