A. With the strong dollar keeping the cost down,

B. When the strong dollar kept the costs down,

C. while the cost have been kept down by the strong dollar…



2. Human has reduced the population of birds-----

A. by damaging the bird's habitats as a result of altering the environment.

B. by altering the environment in way of damaging the bird's habitats.





I don't have OAs for these, and you may know why, I think.

I chose A for (1) and B for (2).
what do you think?

I think B would suite well for Q1 (tense problem)
A would be fine for Q2

I contend A for both.

1) B is wrong because it uses when. "When the strong dollar....something will happen in the future, but the manufacturers "have alraedy produced".
C is wrong because wrong Plural verb usage of "have" rather than "has"

2)B is wrong not as concise and clear as A. Altering the environment "is" a way of damaging the bird's habitats not "in" a way.

1. b and 2.a

I picked 1.a because 'have produced' is present perfect..so action started in the past and continues into the present. A seems to do this

2.a is because 'in way of damaging' sounds unidiomatic.

In (2) - A,
by damaging the bird's habitats as a result of altering the environment.

The underscored part souds awkward to me.
Do you think it appropriately modifies "damaging"?
