Q14/ If 60% laptops A were sold at prices between $200 and$250, 30% laptops B were sold at prices between $450 and$500, 5% laptops C were sold at prices between $3,000 and$3,100. Which of the following could be the average (arithmetic mean) of the prices of all laptops sold?

A/ $240 B/$320
C/ $410 D/$440
E/ \$510

The answer is D but I only got there through trial and error.

I found the max first, to eliminate choice E. Then I found the min. That got rid of A and B.

So I had C and D. I just adjusted one of the values to a min from a max and it came out to 440:

60 computers at 250, 30 computers at 450, and 5 computers at 3100 = an average of 440.

I'd love to see the "correct" way though!
