I am sure we have all benefited from the invaluable discussions on this forum. We know a lot about decent GMAT scores, essays, what the admission committee(s) want to see in an applicant etc etc.

However, I would like to find out why the AWA score does not count much compared with other elements in securing an admission to a school? I found the AWA section of the GMAT to be challenging. Writing two essays in 60 minutes, including brainstorming, writing effectively, proof-reading etc.

I am aware that the admission committee looks at the applications 'holistically' but I have never heard nor read that an applicant who scored a 5.0, 5.5, or even a 6.0 got admitted because of its AWA score Nor I have heard that an applicant was rejected because its AWA score was 2.0

So, does the AWA score matter?
