b-school acceptance rates [#permalink] New post 11 Sep 2008, 16:20
i dont know if you guys run into this but sometimes i see widely varying acceptance rates for schools. i think the worst was when i saw on one website that kellogg's acceptance rate is 16% and on another it was 24%. Where can I get a hold of an accurate acceptance rate for the top 20 schools?

Usually each school lists these stats - like the number of applicants, number of offers of admission, and number of matriculating students. Some schools have even lower acceptance rates than Kellogg as you mentioned. Its competitive out there! What did you think?

I believe that both of those figures are likely correct. Admit rates vary each year, depending on the number of applicants and yield. Make sure you are looking at comparable data.

I think numbers for this year arent all that widely available this year. I think kellogg was in the 17-19% range this year. I would bet GSB would be close to that. Some others like HBS and Wharton are probably in the 12% range.

Dont worry yourself with that stuff anyways. If applications are up 20% again this year then you are looking at 15% or lower at all the top 10 schools and a bunch of the top 20s would be in the 20% or less range.

However, I do not do profile reviews, don't offer predictions on chances and am far to busy to review essays, so save the energy of writing me a PM seeking help for these. If I don't respond to a PM that is not one of the previously mentioned trash can destined messages, please don't take it personally I get so many messages I have a hard to responding to most. The more interesting, compelling, or humorous you message the more likely I am to respond.

Stanford is probably hitting 6-7% range, and Berkeley is close to 12% after last year. This year may get worse...
