B-school and experience in the field [#permalink]

Dear all, a new memeber of the group. Need everyone's advice. I am currently working in a construction field in USA. I am planning to go for MBA after another 2 years of experience (already 2 years experienced). What are the different specialization I can apply for ?I mean , there is no possibility that i will get an admit if I apply for MBA in finance, as I dont have any experience in finance. Do you guys suggest me to shift to a different industry like software?

There is no problem if your goal is to switch careers after MBA. IMO a pretty good percentage of students are career changers.
Since you want to switch career, do a fair bit of introspection on why you want to switch careers. Also while you are applying you not only have to give a valid/strong reason for your actions(changing careers) but also state how your past experiences will help you in the career you want pursue.

A lot of people apply and get accepted into an MBA program intending to specialize in one thing but change their mind as soon as they get on campus. So that is not a big dal.
You should first figure out what you want to do with your life post-MBA and change your jobs if you think that it will bring you a step closer there. Otherwise, why change jobs? I don't know what you do but I imagine that there is a lot of things in your current job that can help you with MBA: managing people, working with a diverse groups, etc. Also you can always take a grad. level class in finance or whatever to show the AdCom that A) you are interested in it and B) you can handle the workload
