B-School App. Mistake [#permalink] New post 16 Jan 2012, 12:36
I just realized that I made an error in my resume that I added to my grad school application. I stated that every semester I received the deans list, but in one semester I was part time, due to taking 3 credits at another school at the same time, and received deans commendation instead( same as deans list but for part time).

I am really nervous about this and I was not trying to deceive anyone. My question is, because I cannot change the application now, should I point this out to admissions and ask to change it or not mention it at all? Really appreciate your help on this, thanks.

Do not mention this. It is a small error at best, and not worth addressing.

Its easy to look at an error like this and magnify it. But there is very little chance that they would even notice, let alone question it. You are not lying, you just catagorized something slightly differently. The fact that you got the deans list recommendation in my mind makes it close enough that you could say that you got it every semester.

Don't worry about it.

This is another prime example of NOT READING YOUR APPLICATION AFTER IT IS SUBMITTED. There is nothing you can do now, so just let it be.

Thanks for your question!

Actually to be 100% safe, I'd place an anonymous call to the admissions office, concisely explain the situation, and see what they say. I can't imagine it'd be a big problem, but schools' perspectives could vary, and you never know.

Chances are it won't matter, but if this question will eat away at you, then place that anonymous call.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Brian
