By all means provide that detail in your resume and specify you were a contractor and make sure you include through which company you contracted.

Kudos (+1) if you find this post helpful. :)

In the past, I interviewed for a job at a company and went through numerous rounds before getting selected. It was a very selective position, but it was a "training" program. During my time at the company and in training, I went through a third party staffing firm and was at the company as a contractor. This third party staffing firm didn't come into the picture until after I finished the interviews and was selected.

On my resume and the application, I didn't mention that I was under a third party staffing firm, because I felt that I wasn't as I only became aware about them after getting selected. I was also paid hourly at the time based on an annual salary number the company gave me and I used this hourly rate to put the salary amount as it requires a conversion into an annual amount. Should I be concerned when Kroll/Revera/other does the check?

Do I need to give the contact info of the third party staffing firm or the manager of the company? The company probably only has a record of me as a contractor.

Yeah, give them the staffing firm as well as the regular company, and explain. They'll figure it out. And you really shouldn't worry about it.

This is what the optional essay was made for! While not entirely common, your situation isn't unheard of. Just make sure the explanation is simple and easy to follow.
