Hi guys, what kind of bags are you using for school? For some people, backpacks are probably the most practical.. but what about postman bags? Or maybe some beautiful bags for the ladies? Because I certainly don't want to use the free bag that came with the laptop.. What's your take on this.. I'm bored at work & am browsing on some laptop bags

I want to explore a little more photography, so I wanted a bag to carry my laptop, camera and other stuff. I've recently bought this one: http://products.lowepro.com/product/Com ... 922,16.htm

I got the Tumi 26103. It's a roller bag. I'm not a big fan of those but since I'll be flying in every other weekend, I figured it would be useful. Otherwise, I would use a normal laptop backpack. RVD.

I was thinking that I would get a roller bag. Yes it may block walkways, take twice as long to get up and down stairs, and take as much room in hallways as two people...but I want to make a statement in the dynamic world of b-school. I want people to look at me and think...hey...now there is a guy who is here to learn, and he's serious about his orthopedic well being. This is the kind of guy we want on our team.

RVD.

For a bag for just your laptop, power supply, and maybe a book: http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=CVR200I have this bag and use it for my x41 tablet. It's so light, it feels like you're just holding/wearing the laptop. It's small so you definitely can't fit text books, etc in there but it's still a really nice bag for just lugging your laptop around. - tsd

Are you guys the same ones that take up half the airport concourse because you have a roller bag AND a roller laptop bag and you hence have to roll them on each side of you? I hate you guys

It's a GREAT bag, but I will not be using it for school because it's too BIG. I used it for work travel when I had to carry some personal items in there, but the bag is massive and I keep on hitting people left and right when I turn around. I'm looking for something that will hold one or two books, a small note book, and my ultraportable computer... I think I found one from Eddie Bauer... still searching.

My wife gave me a North Face backpack for laptops - has several padded pockets, several smaller pockets/sections and is very comfortable.

IMHO, on any public transport system one should take down one's backpack and hold it in hands. Always. No matter the size. Two reasons: - security (you cannot see, what's happening behind you); - you will always be bumping people with you backpack on your back in a crowd, however small it is (unless it's completely flat). Just my 2 cents.

trust me, I generally don't hit anyone with my backpack except for this massive one (the Synergy). I did find a Swiss Gear one at Target, but it doesn't have a name (and is not listed on the Swiss Gear Products list. But it's numbered SA9861, I got at Target for $50 and it's slightly thinner in the depth department. That one will work for traveling, while generally at school I'll use the Eddie Bauer "Travel" something series, also found in Target. It's very slim and fits a 12.1" ultraportable laptop, a thick book and a binder, with some smaller things. It can expand if you need it to. I used it on my trip to China and it held everything I needed it to. I'll switch between these two for school and school travel.

Hey, Kry, thanks for pointing me in the direction of Eddie Bauer, I found something I like for sale there: http://www.eddiebauer.com/catalog/produ ... &viewAll=yA sling for a laptop? Great! So, now my dilemma is whether to spend $160 on a cool Tumi backpack or $40 on Eddie Bauer. Is EB cool?

yeah, i've seen the sling, but call me a traditionalist, because I like to use both shoulders to carry my stuff (I'm one of those nerdy "losers" back in high school that doesn't carry the backpack with just one shoulder ). EB is pretty nice. I'm quite impressed by their backpack/messenger bag. $30 for a backpack convertible to messenger bag. expandable too.
