Subjunctive question : require that

Subject + verb1 [require] + that + Object + verb2 [without "to"]

Bankers require that financial information be [without "to"] complete
Bankers require that financial information follow [without "to"] a prescribed format

A it is.

A..

require + [that] + the financial information presented to them by mortgage applicants + [be]
.. basically, the be part should be the first 1st tense of the verb..

Hello ydrasil

C is wrong because it does NOT keep the sentence parallel.

Option C: Bankers require that the financial information presented to them by mortgage applicants be complete and a prescribed format is followed
The structure of C is: X require THAT Y be complete and Z is followed

Firstly, because of "and" ==> 'be complete" and "Z is followed" must be parallel. But it's NOT the case here.

Secondly, if you think: [X require THAT y be complete and Z is followed] follows parallel structure ==> You MUST add a second "THAT" before "Z is followed" ==> The sentence becomes:
X require THAT Y be complete and THAT Z is followed.

Hope it helps.

OK.

So then in D, it means X require THAT y be complete and follow Z.
So what is the subject of "follow" , financial information ?

Hello
This is subjunctive structure: x requires THAT y be complete and (that y) follow....

Clearly, the subject is still Y.

Hope it helps.

Not sure what your question is. But it would easier for you to look at the sentence like this-
X requires that Y be A and B.

Where
X-banks
Y-financial information submitted
A- be complete.
B- follow a prescribed format.
i.e
Banks require that information submitted be complete. + Banks require that information submitted follow a prescribed format= banks require that information submitted be complete and follow a prescribed format.

Yes! Precisely!.
