Yes (D).
Corrects the sentence by using a Clause introduced by conjunction "event though".

(A) : Unlike introduces a wrong comparison.
(B) (C) (E) : "being" : not preferred.

Late but yes, the ans is D because D uses the correct idiom (convinced that) and also D flawlessly expresses the contrast that is being conveyed in the statement.
