C for me too.
Was stuck between 'based on' & 'according to'.
The like the latter.

Straight C here.

The choice was between A and C.
"Based on" would have been correct had there been any conclusion drawn in the latter part. However, the sentence just presents a fact and "According to" is more correct.

I see C also concluding the parallelism: that abc and that xyz, why C is not correct?

It is D.
C is not parallel: "Robe that they used to dress" and "that this robe depicted scenes of a battle between Zeus..." are not parellel.
D has parellel structure: Records indicate that women collaborated... and (records indicate) that this robe depicted...

D

correct parallel construction of "thateach year..." and "that this robe...". Also, D mainitains consistent vertb tense from "collaborated" to "depicted".

I am not sure why A would be wrong in comparision with C. I am going with A, if I have to pick.

C is parallel: "Robe that they used to dress" and "robe that this robe depicted scenes of a battle between Zeus..."

'Rob' is repeated before each that.

C is wrong becuae of redundency 'rob that this rob'

Concisely C could have said
"Robe that they used to dress and that depicted scenes of a battle between Zeus..."

Yeah I fell for false parallelism in C as well. Good question!!

(C) According to records from ancient Athens, each year young Athenian women collaborated to weave a new woolen robe that they used to dress a statue of the goddess Athena and that this robe depicted scenes of a battle between Zeus, Athena's father, and giants.

(D) Records from ancient Athens indicate that each year young Athenian women collaborated to weave a new woolen robe with which they dressed a statue of the goddess Athena and (indicate) that this robe depicted scenes of a battle between Zeus, Athena's father, and giants.
