9 basketball players are trying out to be on a newly formed basketball team. Of these players, 5 will be chosen for the team. If 6 of the players are guards and 3 of the players are forwards, how many different teams of 3 guards and 2 forwards can be chosen?

I know how to solve this multiply the prob of choosing 6 from 3 and 2 from 3 but how about solving it with using 9! as the denominator.

Answer is 60

i found it as follows:

there are 6 guards from which 3 guards will be chosen to form the team of 5. so 6C3
there are 3 forwards from which 2 forwards will be chosen to form the team of 5. so 3C2

we now have 6C3 * 3C2 = 20 * 3 = 60

***On another note, PLEASE give some space between your question and the actual answer. That way, once someone clicks the link for the question, the answer is not so visible. Thanks a bunch.

We Have 9 players total 6 gaurds and 3 forwards
We need 5 players for the team, 3 gaurds and 2 forwards
Total ways:
Number of ways to select guards * Number of ways to select forwards
= 6C3 * 3C2
= 20*3
=60
