Be a doll and give an advice? [#permalink] New post 27 Mar 2013, 00:58
Hello all,

I'm a third year student at McGill in Montreal, Canada studying economics.
I am currently on a leave for internships and travelling with family.

Here is my profile.

School: McGill University
Graduating Year: 2015 April
Major: Economics with a minor in mathematics
GPA: will probably graduate with 3.0/4.0 (top 30~or so % I believe)
GMAT: Haven't taken the real exam yet but the practice exams indicate anywhere from 650~680
Languages: Fluent English and Korean
Citizenship: Canada

Experience
HR Strategy Intern at a Fortune 100 Company
Audits Season Intern at PwC
Management Consulting intern at Accenture.

Goal:

I have always wanted to do IBD however, the wind has taken me more towards the consulting internships.
I would like to complete an MSF degree in preferably Europe or a top school in the US to get an IBD position to
eventually lateral to an ibd position in SF or the bay area in general.

Schools I will be applying to
SSE, LSE, LBS management, HSG banking and finance, Oxbridge, Duke MMS, WUSTL MSF, Johns Hopkins MSF, Claremont McKenna MSF

Appreciate any other suggestions and would like how I would fare at the universities aforementioned!

Couple of things... Get your GMAT up as high as you can because your GPA is a bit low. Also, get some work experience, that will help offset your GPA; it is tough to get into a program with no experience even with stellar marks.

Firstly, thanks for the input

I will definitely try my hardest in the gmat, aiming for 720+

my internships have been
F100 strategy gig = 2 months
PwC = 2 months
Accenture = 3 months.

i will most likely have finished 2 more internships before I graduate thanks to father's connections.

By experience, do you mean FT job or internships as a student?
I was hoping for MSF straight out of college to land a FO IBD position
rather than having to work some job I do not enjoy for B School admission
for an associate role at a bb bank

Sorry, I misread a bit. If IBD is your goal then you are okay. Honestly, you don't need a masters for that.
