C is correct.
E:
Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and
here :
in her book illustrations
is shown as "non restrictive clause" as it is enclosed in commas. by definitions the stamements should be valid even if we take out non-restrictive clause. now if we remove it:
Beatrix Potter carefully coordinated them with her narratives and ...
doesnt make sense.
D. Modifier error.
Carefully coordinated with her narratives
seems to modifying:
Beatrix Potter
rather than her book illustrations.

A and D, E doesn't make sense. so it's between B and C.
then E is refering to what?
Beatrix Potter carefully coordinated them with her narratives and
C makes more sense than B. so C it is.

Agree with C for the same reasons as above. To me, E just doesn't logically work with the sentence. What did she coordinate??

Re: SC - Beatrix Potter [#permalink]

I guess I pick C based on elimination.
(A) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives,
- doesn't sound right to me
(B) In her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, Beatrix Potter
- needs "which she"- is my assumption correct?
(D) Carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations
- "carefully coordinated..." is an incorrect modifier for beatrix potter
(E) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and
- not E because it is not clear what "them" refers to

Hey man, What are you saying? restrictive or non-restrictive clause can only start with a pronoun such as THAT, WHICH, WHO, or WHOSE.
What you are mentioning is just a phrase, which is always without a subject or predicate..
