I picked C.

In D, is "100 times greater than" correct? I would expect it to be "100 times".

Hi,

I go for E, bcos in C "one " refers to ambious noun "area " or "earthquake" , also D is not concise and hence E is the best possible ans according to me.

Pls post the answer with explanation.

A is incorrect, as it distorts the intent:

It suggests that the event(earthquake in the west and earthquake in the east) has actually happened and the same earthquake (earthquake in the east) causes distruction in the west as well.
