it must be D. we want to compare the way children do something to the way adults to do something, so you must have 'do'.

(A) like adults it is not the case to use like (B) unlike an adult wrong comparison (C) as adults missing verb (D) as adults do ok (E) as an adult wrong comparison

'Like' is to compare nouns and 'as' is to compare actions. We are comparing actions so eliminate A and B. Then eliminate C and E because we are comparing children's organization of attention and perceptions to adult's organization of attention and perceptions NOT the adult. Only D remains.

picked D first
ans: B?
- 'as an adult' doesn't make sense to me - rest have "children:adults" and "they" together, making the sentence ambiguous
OA?

D is the winner here.
The comparison is between actions: 1) children do not do something 2) adults do something
Hence we need an "as" as well as a linking/helping verb "do" => C

When like is used, the format should be Verb+Like+Noun/Pronoun When as is used, the format should be As+Subject+Verb
So the answer is D

Remember that you must ensure parallelism with unlike, even though unlike indicates that the two items are not like each other. Right: UNLIKE you. I danced last night. (You did not dance last night.)
