Benchmark for 750 [#permalink] New post 24 Sep 2009, 11:24
Hi

I have a gmat score of 680 (Q48,V35) . I feel I can do better as my Gmatprep and MGMAT scores were in the range 720-740.

This time around , I am shooting for the magical 750 . Can we somehow benchmark the score of 750 by gauging how many questions ( in both Q and V) one should get right to ensure a 750 ? I know gmat has its own algo and its not possible to judge this accurately . All I am looking at is a rough figure just to set targets

My experience tells me , 750 score = 49-51 Q , 40-44 V
quant - 5-8 questions wrong (spread out evenly)
verbal - 5-10 questions wrong (again spread out evenly)

I would say a Q51 and a V42 will get you 750

Q51 approximately 5-6 questions wrong
Q42 approximately 5-6 questions wrong

but again it varies a lot and lot

I believe Q50, V41-42 or Q49, V42-44, will do it.

I had 49, 42 for 750. Here is a bit more on the gmat scores: gmat-score-guide-to-gmat-scores-score-reports-83890.html

Here is also a more in-dept discussion about re-taking gmat and value around it (your practice scores indicate you can definitely do better) but you will need to decide for yourself if it is worth it: should-i-retake-gmat-thread-retaking-gmat-strategies-83339.html
