A - "comes" is wrong
B - "comes" is wrong
C & E - wrong ( "that are also found" sounds better than "also found" )
D - Best Fit

what is the grammatical reason ??

A. comes from antioxidants—compounds also found in beta carotene, vitamin E, and vitamin C that
wrong subject agreement
B. comes from antioxidants—compounds that are also found in beta carotene, vitamin E, and vitamin C, and they
wrong subject agreement
C. come from antioxidants—compounds also found in beta carotene, vitamin E, and vitamin C, and
'that' no clear reference
D. come from antioxidants—compounds that are also found in beta carotene, vitamin E, and vitamin C and that
choose for parallelism '...compounds that...X... and that...Y...'
E. come from antioxidants—compounds also found in beta carotene, vitamin E, and vitamin C, and they
'they' has no clear reference.

I picked E because I thought "they " was referring to "antioxidants".

GMAT Prep question, OA is D.
A is incorrect:
1. comes should be come
2. compounds *that* are also found....and that ....is the correct construction.
B is incorrect:
1. comes should be come
2. they doesnt have a clear referent
C is incorrect:
compounds ....and Vitamin C , and inhibit the formation is incorrect - inhibit is not tied to compounds in any way( inhibits is a function of the compound and thus must be linked to it).
D is correct
E they does not have a clear referent.

D is correct because it is both gramatically (most of plural.. come) and stylistically (that... that II-ism)

D here, for all the reasons listed above, come agrees with most, and 'that' describes the ||ism

Agree with the explanation provided by catgmat. The correct answer must be D.
