Modifier "Besides adding complementary flavors to many foods" should be followed by now Noun it modifies. Hence eliminate 4 and 5.

2 -->"hot sauces stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain, like exercise" conveys meaning that hot sauces stimulates endorphins and exercise alike. eliminate it.

3 --> conveys meaning that hot sauces and exercise both add flavor. Eliminate it.

the "does" in "just as exercise does" is important for comparing like actions.

A is correct!

"just as excercise does" is a good comparison to hot sauces stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain
