Best B schools for impact investing? [#permalink]
17 Aug 2012, 10:36
I did come across the poets and quants article about best social entrepreneurship b schools. Apart from this, does anyone have a good idea of b school programs which are strong for impact investing, especially in emerging markets?

Impact investing is a very new field, I'm not sure if any one school is a stand out in the field, especially since recruiting is so limited for this field. I'm no expert, but I think for some of the more prestigious funds, like Acumen, they get previous investment bankers or private equity folks who want to have more socially focused careers. I think your best bet is to apply for some of the more socially focused schools: Yale, Fuqua (Duke), Ross (Michigan - Ann Arbor).

Duke has a strong focus on the social sector with its CASE Center (Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship) and you can have your concentration be social entrepreneurship. How this translates to landing a job in impact investing I do not know.

Fuqua has dedicated program for Impact Investing at their CASE center (Center for Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship). It is called the Initiative on Impact Investing (CASE i3).
If you want to learn about impact investing, go to Fuqua. I am a student there now, involved with the program, and it is set to expand this year and in future years. There is an impact investing class as well as other support systems.

So much response for Fuqua, it's almost like we seeded this thread Anyways, coincidentally, I received an e-mail from a Fuqua club about African Leadership Networking seeking entrepreneurs in Africa to fund. If you are interested to find out more -> http://www.africanleadershipnetwork.com/
