PowerScore SC and Manhattan GMAT SC are great SC books, but they are not detailed enough for the international students to cover all the intricacies of English Language. Kaplan Verbal Foundations is a good one too but not as complete as I would like it to be (lacks an in-depth discussion of subjunctive, article information, and a few other issues).
10/20/2010 Update: We have created our own grammar book:
GMAT Grammar eBook by GMAT Club Price: $9.99 (instant download) ✓ The best GMAT grammar resource available ✓ 500+ exercises and 500+ test questions in this 294 page book! ✓ Covers all necessary items from Articles to Parallelism ✓ List of common idioms (plus examples), prepositions, commonly confused, misused words ✓ Includes 3 tests (after each section) ✓ Download a sample: Part I - GMAT Grammar Basic
Here is a list Grammar books I found as highest and best rated on Amazon - would love to hear your thoughts if you found any of these or other books helpful as comprehensive grammar guides and if there was a certain improvement you saw as the result (these books in no particular order)
Pros: Audio, you can listen to it while driving to work. It covers basic grammar rules and common mistakes and gives plenty examples. It does not deviate into the intricate details of English grammar.
Cons: The narrators (man and woman) are trying to be witty and funny. Some people may like it some may not. I'm in the latter group. The grammar level is Very basic and far from being a complete source of information needed for GMAT.
Bottom Line: Good if you are driving. There aren't too many options when it comes to audio prep materials for GMAT.

I would recommend "High School English Grammar and Composition by Wren and Martin", its available only in India and its synonymous with English Grammar book in India.

I've been reading English Grammar in Use and found it good enough. If your level of English is not so high and you search for something to improve quickly, that's a book you can read.

I wanted to access this free version of the grammar book but I am not able to download. It keeps directing me to the forum page where it prompts to the paid version.
I just wanted to look through it first and then make a decision.
Could you please guide me to the link where I can download the sample book?

Consider "Grammar to Go - How It Works and How To Use It". I am using it and find it very usefull. Especially for those who study English as second language and need to cover basics first.
