Best GMAT Math book [#permalink] New post 26 Jun 2013, 21:40

I am new to the forum and hope to crack the exam. I have started with the quantitative portion and i am looking for a single source where i can refresh the theory and practice the questions. I am totally confused with the numerous reviews around about several books on GMAT prep.

i have purchased the Official Guide 13th Edition (GMAC) and i plan to purchase the quantitative and verbal OG from GMAC as well. would this be enough to brush up my skills?( i am a little rusty). i read in some blogs that these books would not help to score above 700. Is this true. If so should i also purchase the Manhatten 8 books as well or any other? Please suggest the best.

The OG is certainly an important study tool--that's where you get real GMAT problems to practice on. I think people severely understate the difficulty of the material in there. Many of the problems are quite challenging if you hold yourself to strict time limits. The problem with the OG is that it isn't a *teaching* tool. If you don't already have mastery of the underlying content, you're not going to gain it by doing OG problems and reading the explanations.

So sure, I recommend that you work through our strategy guides, or *someone's,* to make sure you have all the necessary skills in place.
