Re: Best GMAT Score for Top 25 PhD [#permalink]
I have been researching phd programs myself for the last few months and it looks like the top schools require a minimum of 700, but I know someone who got into a top 10 program with a 660 and a pretty low quant score.
Ideally your gmat should be between 700 and 750, your undergrad GPA should be above 3.5, letters of recommendations need to be strong. Being co-author on a paper or at least having a record of research experience definitely helps and you need to have a stellar statement of purpose. All these things make a well-rounded application. :)

Having previous research experience for a PhD, certainly comes in handy but is not necessary at all.

Otherwise, applying for a PhD would not make sense. If you are already a researcher, then the scope/purpose of a PhD what is ??

When I had thought about applying , I started collecting base data about PhD Programs of all top Universities. I am attaching an excel sheet that gives some of the data at most universities. Some of them were not in my list (eg Wharton) since they asked for GRE scores and I was not in a mood to give GRE as well as GMAT. The file also has other fields like whether TOEFL is required by a particular univ and how many recommendation letters to be sent for that particualr univ etc.

The data shows that for the top 20 Univs, including LBS and INSEAD, the scores for PhD programs hover around 700 - THAT is an average. For International applicants, I have to agree with Praet that the scores will be higher !!.

Any experiences ?

Hi I am not able to access the xls, any alternate link to that?

Best GMAT Score for Top 25 PhD [#permalink]
Hi,

I am planning to apply for PhD programs in US universities this fall. My profile is as below-
1. GMAT - 650
2. Undergrad GPA - 3.7/4
3. 7.5 yrs of Industry experience in Financial Services(across Front, Middle and Back Office)
4. Completed MBA at IMT, Ghaziabad (1 of the premier B-Schools in India)

Can I get some guidance on which B-Schools to apply for maximizing my chances for an admission?
Thanks for the help.
