best way from Q40 to Q45+? [#permalink] New post 08 Oct 2008, 19:31
Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get a little advice on bumping my quant score. I took the GMAT earlier this week and got a Q40 V44 (680). I was happy with the verbal but thought I defnitely underperformed on the quant, though admittedly wasn't as prepared as I could have been.

I'm planning on re-taking in 5 weeks, and want to make sure this area is much more solid. I was wondering what people recommend for securing a c.45Q score? I've read a lot of posts that the challenges are good to get from 45 to 49, so maybe this isn't the best place to pick up.

For practice so far I've gone through the OG11, looked at part of Kaplan 800 (but didn't find it very helpful), and went through EZ Advanced Workbook (though messed up enough questions that I wasn't really asked things at this level during the test).

I think I generally have a hard time with DS and the more abstract number properties questions.

Many thanks!

I think Princeton Review is pretty good for learning the basics.

Sometimes non-GMAT sources can also give you a pretty good grasp on the fundamentals. I used a couple GRE books when I was prepping (I can't remember which though).

I'd go through manhattan guides and learn the basics. Then do GMAT Club Challenges.

Hi 2leggedprophet,

as someone rightly mentioned below in the discussion, i have read Manhattan Number properties, seems to be good.At the end of it,OG-11 problem sets are given for that topic. I was able to solve them.
Started with another topic now,so try Manhattan maths books now and let us know ur feelings.
