The MGMAT class
syllabus assigns the guides in a balanced manner. What you have proposed sounds like a good plan. I believe there are 5 quant guides and 3 verbal so you should be on schedule to work through all 8 guides and have both areas done around the same time. Also, the class runs 9 weeks at which point you finish all of the non-advanced portions of the guides. I'd recommend only addressing the advanced sections once you see 700 level success on each guides corresponding OG problems.
I'm just finished the guides and am drilling OG problems and taking CATS for the next month so I am not a success story yet. Just relaying how the MGMAT folks intend for the guides to be used. Hope it is of some help.
