Best way to use manhattan strategy guides. [#permalink] New post 22 Nov 2011, 19:30
Hey ,
I just bought the set of 8 manhattan strategy guides alongwith the 3 official guides . What's the best way to use them ? Should I finish quant first and then move to verbal or do them on alternate days ? I just wrote a Kaplan practice test a few days ago and scored a 670 ( q 42 v 41)

I swear this has been asked a few days ago but I can't find the post now. Arh.

There is no right/wrong approach. I took quant first and then verbal but it really depends on your study strategy and habits. Most people take one at a time - you move faster (feel that you are covering and improving faster). Also keeps things a bit more straightforward. I recommend starting with the easier section for you (that would be Verbal based on your sample score) and then moving to the one you have challenges with.

Does it make sense?

Yes it makes sense . I started with quant and I plan to first do 2 quant guides followed by 1 verbal guide and then repeat this cycle till I finish . I'm targeting to finish this by about 45 days or so , does this sound good to you ?

The MGMAT class syllabus assigns the guides in a balanced manner. What you have proposed sounds like a good plan. I believe there are 5 quant guides and 3 verbal so you should be on schedule to work through all 8 guides and have both areas done around the same time. Also, the class runs 9 weeks at which point you finish all of the non-advanced portions of the guides. I'd recommend only addressing the advanced sections once you see 700 level success on each guides corresponding OG problems.

I'm just finished the guides and am drilling OG problems and taking CATS for the next month so I am not a success story yet. Just relaying how the MGMAT folks intend for the guides to be used. Hope it is of some help.
