M-->S
rate - 75m/hr
dist - 150 (assumed)
time - 2 hrs

S-->M
rate - 50 m/hr
dist - 150 (sames as above)
time - 3 hrs

total trip avg speed = (150+150)/(2+3) = 60 m/hr (B)

Another 60 mph.

Lets say distance is 150 miles. It takes 2 hours at 75mph, and 3 hours at 50 mph.

Just add the totals up to get 300/5hours and we get 60 mph.

For people who are have problems solving with variables.

Let the distance, x equal 150 miles. Therefore,

t1 = 150/75 = 2 hours
t2 = 150/50 = 3 hours

Average speed = total distance/total time = 300/(2+5) = 60 miles/hour

Pick B.
