Hello people. The following books are big ripp offs and , in my opinion . the biggest waste of time that money can buy.

1) Barrons
2) All manhatten books except Manhatten SC.
3) OG10( if you have OG11).

manhatten books have nothing expectional or phenomenol that you can not find in any other books. its just this hype about manhatten books except that of MSC, which , most people will agree, is the best among the other books published by manhatten

I think Manhattan series provide a good overview of the kind of questions one will encounter in GMAT.

And Manhattan books are one of the very few books which actually cover probability, permutation and combination.

Don't post messages like this unless you can back it up and explain why.

I have all the MGMAT books and so far have raised my score 80 points in 5 weeks, with 4 more of the books to go.

My greetings to you Mr.jsnooky33

Well i appriciate you concern. But your argument is based on an assumption that i dont have MGMAT and, therefore, can not conclude what i have concluded. What i wann say is that the total cost of all the available manhattan books cost 182$ (all seven of them inculding online tests). not only that but also the RC & CR books are complete rip offs. fraction decimals, geometry and number properties books are average and so MGMAT is just an average preparation course. However Mgmat SC is phenomenal in my opinion. Now let us take, for example, kaplan books, the cost of which (all the 7 books including online practice tests ) is 179$ plus you get much more superior material along with numerous online practice questions and tests. So got my point....?

Dude, I do not think COST should be used to evalutate whether a book is good or not! Here people are interested in doing well in GMAT, at all cost. So when evaluating anything realted to GMAT please leave the cost factor aside. Let the individual decide whether the books fall within their budget.

Be absolute and just judge the contents. As numerous others have pointed out MGMAT books are one of the better ones out there! I think the MGMAT questions are closest to the real GMAT questions that you encounter in the real test.

If you DO NOT HAVE MGMAT - how on earth are you evaluating the books?!! Please do not post random opinions without substantial backing!

I wasn't trying to start an argument with you. I merely wanted you to "explain" why you started off with such pointed comments. There are many people who are swayed by the reviews on this site and it is unfair to tell someone something "sucks" without stating a reason why.

It also helps to differentiate between the books and the course. You seem to combine them in your post above. Have you taken the course or just used the books?

Mr jsnooky33

Well i did mention my reason why not to choose MGMAT books (because its just an average preparation course). And i also made it very clear that in my post when i say MGMAT course i mean MGMAT books (may be you should look at the posts again) and so i did not combine them its just that you thought i have. (just re-read the whole thing again).

I agree that you need to be more specific as to why you don't think certain materials are good enough. Otherwise, your argument carries little weight. Give us a real basis for your opinion if you want us to take it -- and you -- seriously.

Manhattan online CAT [#permalink] New post 17 Mar 2007, 19:27
How are the Manhattan test scores estimated compared to actual gmat/gmat prep. tests? On this I saw that the score estimator does not include manhattan gmat online tests(6 in total) that are avaiable on the internet on buying manhattan sc. Does anyone have idea abt it?

Yes, Manhattan GMAT tests are probably the best unofficial estimators of your actual GMAT score after, of course, the GMATprep tests which are the best.

Guys relax,

Our freind Javed has just expressed his opinion about various books.
not all the fingers are of same size, everybody is having his or her own take. His expectation from the course may be different from many other people...

Well Javed, I bought Manhattan SC book, which Aurobindo has also suggested me to purchase. And guys I will also have access to online exams from MGMAT, which are considered to be one of the best after GMATprep... :-D

Unofortunately, as I am not in US, I cant be part of their classes.

regards,

Amardeep

I found MGMAT online tests pretty challenging. Most of the Qs from 700-800 range are tricky and tough. But I want to know how can the score on MGMAT be mapped to actual GMAT score. Does anyone know abt it?

The cheapest way to get access to the tests is by purchasing one of Manhattan GMAT's guides on Amazon.com. I believe the price is $17.00. Once you purchase the guide, you will gain access to 6 CATS on manhattangmat.com web-site. Otherwise, you can purchase the tests directly from the web-site for $39.
