Hi Guys,

I am just starting my preparation for GMAT (for July 07). I went through many posts on this site, still need guidance on one thing. Which book(s) is the best to brush up the fundamentals of Quant? I don't have a math or engineering background... I studied math only in school.

I think Princeton Review has the best math overview of all the widely available books. I used OG 11 for practice problems, and now I'm using Kaplan 800 to improve my score with harder questions

IMHO the best books for reacquainting yourself with maths concepts are:

I would do the Kaplan book first then the algebra one. Neither cover probability so you will need a separate book for this.

I think the Manhattan Review math book is really good...it's got a glossary and list of formulas that are used a lot too, which is verrrry helpful. Also PR's got some really good books as well. nice supplementary material.

I am using the Kaplan book and it is definitely very good as a refresher on all the concepts. But I plan on using OG 11 for the problems.

Kaplan.... do you mean Kaplan Premier 2007? It has got concepts briefly discussed at the end of the book. Are these enough?

rakesh, if you are in India, i would suggest getting your hands on the IMS quant guides for CAT. They are just too good!

Dear Rakesh,

If you have luxury of time in your hand, you may brush your basics concepts from standard X and XI (selected chapters) books.

thereafter, you may practice 40 to 50 question from OG to get the Idea of the kind of questions, you will be confronting in your GMAT.

You may ameliorate your concept from either princeton or kaplan.

btw... you may subscribe to the quant challenges to get the real GMAT kick.
