Hello Everyone

Hope you had a stress-free night after a long time, I know I did. I'm sure all admitted folks have some important decisions to make in the coming months. I'm creating this thread to introduce ourselves and sort through all the queries one may have.

I had one this morning when I logged in to check my status on Booth website and the update did not have a deadline specified. After clicking through a few links, I found out that the deadline for accepting Booth's offer is Feb 14th, 2014.

UPDATE #1: A quick summary of the welcome email
1. The first non-refundable $2,000 tuition deposit is due on Friday, February 14, 2014. The second non-refundable $1,000 tuition deposit is due on Friday, May 16, 2014.
2. All incoming students are required to attend the first day of Orientation+ on Monday, September 8, 2014 and all mandatory sessions of Orientation+ through the first day of Autumn Quarter classes, September 25, 2014.
3. Please plan to attend one of our admitted student receptions in Chicago (January 9), New York (January 9), San Francisco (January 15), Boston (January 15), Los Angeles (January 16), or Washington DC (January 16.)
4. Admit Weekend is scheduled for Thursday, February 6 through Saturday, February 8, and begins with a welcome reception on the evening of February 6.
5. Please make arrangements to mail official, sealed transcripts from all universities, colleges, and/or graduate institutions attended to the Office of Admissions by Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

Roll Call

NOTE :- The above list updates automatically as and when applicants update their application Status. If your name does not appear in the list, please check and update your application status or post in this thread.

Admitted student weekend is February 6-8, I asked on my admit call.

It sounds like they are also hosting admitted student events in various cities around the US. The event in DC is January 16th if I remember correctly.

:) of course they made it the same weekend as the Kellogg admitted students weekend. That will make things difficult

I believe the same thing happened last year (if my memory of prior year threads is accurate). From the comments, it seems like it was pretty easy to do one day at Booth (consensus was Friday) and one day at Kellogg (Saturday)... YMMV

I saw the updated status on the website, but I have yet to receive any sort of welcome email. Have others received an email with details?

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to have been accepted and look forward to chatting with all of you. I am already (with my wife leading the charge) looking at apartment options around Millenium Park and South Loop. Anyone else doing some housing investigating yet?

None at my end either. I was told on the call about a welcome packet being sent via USPS. I assume that would have all the details

Same here. I was so spaced out on the call from the immense ~36 hours of stress and the sudden immense relief that I missed all the details!

Ha, I agree totally regarding the stress. Yesterday was a brutal day waiting for Booth, Ross and Kellogg (which never came). I felt exhausted at the end of the day and all I did was sit at a desk and stare at my phone (and check this forum).

No email for me either. Was told to expect it today.

My wife has started the housing hunt as well, but in Hyde Park as I'd be coming with two children as well :)

What is the preferred location for Married couples without children? I know of a few friends living around South loop. Is that the main location? MPP seems to be the location for single students

Hello all,

Congrats to everyone! I live in Chicago so can help if anyone has questions about housing or the city in general.

Many Booth students live in the South Loop area as that is where the Metra stop is located that will take you to Hyde Park. It is a still developing neighborhood (up-and-coming as they say).

The benefits of living there are: you will be in good company with other Booth students, easy to get to-and-from campus, and housing is affordable (for some quite nice places).

The downsides are that in terms of culture and activity, there isn't that much going on there. It is still a growing area so there aren't too many bars/restaurants.

Just my opinion! Looking forward to meeting many of you at admit weekend.

Congrats to all of you. Whether you've already committed to Chicago Booth or are in the process of making a decision, you have an awesome couple of years ahead of you. When I was in your shoes, I found great advice on these forums from my future classmates and current Boothies. That said, Chicago Booth's official channels will have almost all of the information you need, but if something is missing or you want advice from a less official channel, there are a few current Boothies who still post in the forums and we'll be glad to help out (unofficially). Unless a question is particularly sensitive, post it for everyone's benefit. If it is sensitive, you can PM as well. If it's something that is on the admitted students site, I'll let you guys sort it out for yourselves.

A bit about me: I am from central CA originally and studied mechanical engineering as an undergrad. Prior to Booth, I was a project manager for several construction firms in Chicago and Los Angeles and am currently recruiting for management consulting. My wife and I live in the South Loop and are planning to expand the family soon. If you've visited campus over the last few months, I may have been your tour guide, class escort, or lunch buddy. I'm also involved in several community service organizations, alumni relations, and the Ski and Snowboard Club.

Congrats to everyone who made it through the grueling process and came out of the other side alive.

It's nice to have a decision to make over Christmas - anyone else considering their options?

Hey DJ, I applied to almost the same mix of schools as you and it has come down to Booth vs CBS for me. Will be going back and forth over the next few weeks.
