Quite a few of my friends and classmates from the healthcare domain(doctors, surgeons, paramedics, researchers) have earned an MBA or a similar business degree.Post-MBA They are working in diverse industries : pharma, healthcare delivery, FMCG, healthcare consulting, banking,non-profit,etc.
The programs love to have a diverse and eclectic mix in their class.
As far as job prospects are concerned it depends on your career goals--industry , role/job function,company,etc and the school you got into. Some schools have more companies recruiting from the healthcare domain Duke is a good example. If you want to go into healthcare consulting then a admit to top 10/15 school can get you in. You might have to work in your quant based skills a little more than say someone from finance or engineering background, but that should not be a major hurdle.
