Team of Specialists _____is_____(is/are) called for.
Powers of observation that ___Plural_________ (Singular verb/ Plural verb)
bones of dinosaur that ____were_______(was/were) huge creature.

A,B,C are out.. (Sub-V agreement issue)
powers of observation--> obseration powers -- make
between D and E

D looks better and concise..

But in D, "makes his letters as a group.........." ok?
Though E is lenghty but i find it better than D

(Team of Specialists _____is_____(is/are) called for.
Powers of observation that ___Plural_________ (Singular verb/ Plural verb)
bones of dinosaur that ____were_______(was/were) huge creature.....Here it must be 'was' because 'that' modifies dinosaur - Ideally, 'That' must be placed next to the word it intends to modify
Do I need to look rest of the sentences to validate the verb?

E changes the meaning of the sentence. I'll go with D

yeap!! i agree with you.

So we need to select the subject based on context right

"powers of observation that.... make.. his letters...as -->here subject is "Powers" eventhough "that " is near to observation

Can you elaborate meaning change of sentence "E"[/quote]

D says 'The letters, if taken as a group ,rival the best of the novels'. The 'making' refers to 'rivalry'
E says ' The letters, make a group which rivals the best of the novles'. The 'making' here refers to 'group'

Hope it's clear

E is clearly wrong

uses which incorrectly

also P of O does not make his letters a group. group is not the rival of the best novels.

his letters as a group will rival the best novels.
