C seems correct to me.

The correct phrase should point back to the main clause:
Caesarea was Herods city

A. usage of such is incorrect

D/E: to my understanding, so(adverb) is used to refer back an action/adjective. Here we need to refer back to a clause.

B for me. A and E are clearly out because the use of being in them is not correct. C can be left out because there is no clear reference for "this". Between B and D I prefer B. What does so refer in D?

OA is B.


This sentence has format: founded as + n. , and as such + sentence

1. as such - because it is that thing
Example :I'm a teacher, and as such, I should try to help you.

2. as here is a preposition and must therefore be followed by a noun.

3. so is used to replace verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, but NOT nouns; we use such for nouns.

Remember guyz...

"clause1 and as such, clause 2" is equivalent to:

"clause1 and as clause1, clause2"

You will never go wrong with this.
