Is anyone planning on visiting in the fall? I'd like to do so before submitting my application but not sure when is the best time.

Best time would be when classes are in full swing, so late September. You do not have to wait to submit until after you visit. Make your plans to visit, mention when you plan on visiting in your optional essay (obviously, a sentence or two), submit your app, then visit. Trust me, it will not count against you, they simply like to see the interest.

Hi all,

I was an ED applicant last year. Got dinged after an interview.

Columbia remains my favorite and am considering it again. ONly this time as a J term applicant. My worry is on how the school will view the change in preference in such a short period of time.

Anyone with more info on J term size and how it is integrated with the 2 year program?

I got dinged last year in ED and I'm considering re-applying this year in RD so I'm also wondering how CBS will evaluate my change from ED to RD.

CBS has a rule around reapplicants...former applicants can use reapplicant process (i.e. 1 essay + 1 new recommendation) only if submitted within 1 year from the last. I submitted my app late Sept last year so...is my deadline for reapp late Sep this year?

There were comments on this board around chances in ED vs chances in RD. You can look at last year's numbers. I don't think ED was any easier.

1. You might want to address your decision to apply RD as opposed to ED in the optional essay.
2. "Last year" means last application season, so you should do the 1 new essay and 1 new rec

Write me for ED

I have a question about LoR.
One of my recommendations originally will be not english. How should I submit it? The site says I should download a form for my recommender. But I see only Transcript form in Downloadable Section.

Does anyone have the same problem?

The downloadable form is available when you add a recommender in the application. He/she will be sent an email with the link to the form. Here are the questions if you need them.

1. What is your relationship to, and how long have you known the applicant? Is this person still employed by your organization? If not, when did he/she depart?

2. Please provide a short list of adjectives describing the applicant’s strengths, and please compare the applicant’s performance to that of his or her peers.

3. Please comment on the applicant’s growth during his/her employment with you and on his or her ability to work with others, including superiors, peers, and subordinates.

4. In what ways could the applicant improve professionally? How does he/she accept constructive criticism?

5. Comment on your observations of the applicant’s ethical behavior.

6. What do you think motivates the candidate’s application to the MBA program at Columbia Business School?

7. If you could change one thing about the applicant, what would it be?

8. Are there any other matters which you feel we should know about the applicant?

Or the recommender should send them to me and then i send them to school?

Does anyone know of an online newsletter for CBS? I'm looking for additional resources for research. Thanks!

Not that I'm one to complain or anything, but I just received an update saying my application is under review. I thought Columbia does'nt start reviewing Early Decision applications until 8/17?
