R1 applicant here. Does anyone know exactly how the recommendations work? Is it all online? I know you enter in your recommenders' information on the online application, but does anyone know what happens from there?
Thanks, kcw984 It's all online. The reccomender receives a link to the web-site. He/she then fills out the information (your characteristics, the actual letter, etc.) and clicks submit.

Hi,
Just one more quick question; if getting a LOR from my most recent supervisor, but not my current supervisor, is it necessary to address this (ie. In the optional essay)?
Thanks, Kcw984

Thanks, Kcw984 I'm in the same situation, and I wrote the optional essay.

For the powerpoint slides (essay #3), I was wondering how many of you guys kept them more graphical than textual? Also, were all slides related in one way or another, because my slides were not: I dedicated each slide to a separate theme of my life: e.g., Discipline slide #1 Risk Management slide #2 etc. I had lots of ideas going, but now I'm just kinda overwhelmed by the different scenarios that I have... I just have to focus down, and stay relevant! ... still struggling trying to wrap up this last piece for Chicago's

To ensure I don't lose impact because of the text, I've highlighted a few key points in the text. Slide 1 set the stage, and slides 2,3, and 4 followed the theme. I wouldn't worry about keeping them related, as long as the slides engage the reader and he/she learns something new about you.

It could be a word document? I feel that PPT slides are too constrictive and I can display more content in a Word Doc with pics/text.

Pretty much any file on the computer can be converted into a PDF file. I personally converted my doc files into pdf's.

yup, pdf means pretty much anything since you can convert anything to pdf. Awesome, I got two slides going. My second slide has a total of 2 words (but so far I really like the meaning behind it). These first two slides have been dedicated to what I value and about my philosophy in life. I might dedicate the last two slides to show more of the personal side of me... I was even thinking of just throwing together random pictures of my travels (from singapore to thailand to sri lanka) for one slide, and haven't really thought about the final one yet.

Hi guys, I just signed up because I'm having a technical difficulty with the Chicago app. I go to the "education" section to upload my scanned pdf transcript (under 500 kb, and has been uploaded successfully using applyyourself), but for some reason I get an error that it is not a supported format and to make sure I close out of the file. I am closed out. Anyone else having this problem?

If it's not working, you might try to re-pdf the file with a different editor, like nitro PDF. In either case, welcome to GMAT Club
